Things to Keep in Mind for 10/22-10/28

Here are some things to keep in mind as you build your program for this coming week. There are are two meetings: Thursday, October 25 starting at 5:00 p.m. is our monthly Faculty Meeting. On Friday, October 26, I have a Pharmacy Commission meeting with the full Faculty starting at 2:00 p.m.

Let's skip the El Jalisco thing this week. I'd much rather not have any mistakes in the nutrition. There's no telling how much lard is used in those refried beans anyways. In the meantime, be thinking about some sort of social thing we can do as a class. Last year's group with to dinner and a movie.

The big thing for the week is Saturday's opening race for Short Track season in Charlotte. Lunch will likely be on the road somewhere that day. Make Friday's dinner the usual salmon, whole wheat pasta, and some sort of vegetable, and Saturday morning's breakfast oatmeal and coffee. I need to be fresh on Saturday morning, which means no lower body resistance training after Tuesday, and no upper body resistance training after Thursday.

I'm looking over the weather forecast for the upcoming week. There may be some storms headed our way, particularly on Tuesday through Thursday. Try to be mindful of that as you plan activities. On Monday, I'm planning to commute home by bike, as it's the only day that doesn't have rain in the forecast, and I can use the additional calories burned.

5:30 p.m. is too late for me to be working out in Springs on Monday, because sunset is at 6:44 p.m. That means I have to be on the road home not later than 5:14 p.m. Working backwards, you can see that we need to be in Springs much earlier than 5:30. I get out of class at 2:45, and (once the students' questions get answered) can be in Springs at 3:30. Anyhow, work around those time restrictions. If you have ever had to ride your bike in traffic, you'll understand why you want to avoid the typical times when people get off work. It's better to be off the highway before people are rushing to get home.
