Dr. H - Diet and Workout for 10/17/07

Hi folks,

I trust you all had an enjoyable time away from the campus. I'd like to brag about being about to go a few days without having to hear the alarm, but there would be no such luck. I did manage to make through the entire break without a single refreshing beverage, and believe me, it's not because I didn't want one. While the Cowboys were busy blowing their chances, and my in-laws were enjoying rubbing it in, I could have enjoyed a cold Yuengling. On top of that, my fork sprung a leak on Saturday. The 29er is in the shop getting some repair work done. I'm hoping for a really quick turnaround so I don't lose any more training time getting ready for the 27th. I used the 'cross bike today for a run/ride workout in the woods. Total time was 1:05, and total calories burned was 737. Riding the 'cross bike used to be fun, and now it just beats me up. It's smokin' fast on climbs, but the descents will rattle your dental work.

One small change in the diet for today -- I was on the bike this afternoon, and skipped the snack. Kind of hard to manage eating strawberries when you're wearing your lungs like a backpack. Otherwise, today's diet went without a hitch.

I've selected a paper for your next analysis project. I may distribute it through email on Friday afternoon if there is interest in getting it early. Just send me an email if you'd like it in advance of Monday's class.
